Sell on Ebay?

Click the YES option and you’ll notice that the left half of the dialog comes to life enabling you to define the following:

Minimum Bid

This is amount at which you will start the bidding. Typically Ebay auctions do BEST if the minimum bid is VERY low with NO RESERVE. Identical items will close at very different final high bids depending on a few key issues. Good things to strive for in an EBay auction include the following:
  • VERY LOW minimum bid. (0.01¢ is a GREAT opening bid.)
  • NO RESERVE.
  • Good PICTURES (Especially ZOOM images).
  • On-Line payment for item when auction has ended.
RealCart will create the “Add item to Ebay” form and fill most of it out for you when you click the “List on Ebay now” button.

Fixed Shipping Cost

This is the fixed amount you will charge for shipping this item after someone has won it on Ebay.

List on Ebay Now button

That’s right, after you enter the minimum bid (or opening bid) and the fixed shipping cost you can go ahead and list it immediately by clicking this button. RealCart determines what your accepted methods of payment are, merges your product info (including pictures), sets your Ebay ID, other auctions and About Me links all into your “Add item on Ebay” form. All you need to do is select the other Ebay options like category, “gift icon”, gallery option, featured auction and a couple of other optional settings. Then you just enter your password (unless you saved it in the EBay options) and submit. This feature in RealCart cuts the time needed to list an Ebay auction by about 80%!

Ebay Item Number

As soon as you have listed your item, return here to enter the Ebay Item Number. Once you do, you will notice that the other side of the dialog comes to life. When the auction is over you can complete the information on this side and notify your winner with one click of your mouse! Your online store product page for this item will also change once you have published these changes. You will immediately notice that the “Add to Cart” button now says “Place Bid”. This change is necessary to keep you within EBay rules regarding selling like items on your site. EBay forbids auctioning items that are readily available on your site for immediate purchase.

After the Auction

Ebay ID of High Bidder

Once your auction is over just edit your product again and update the information on the right side of the dialog including the Ebay ID of your winning bidder. Just type the winning bidder’s Ebay ID here. If the ID is an email address our program will automatically fill in the next field for you.

High Bidder Email

If the high bidder’s Ebay ID is an email address then this field is already filled in. If not, simply add the high bidder’s email address here.

Final Auction Price

Enter the winning bid amount here.

Add to Cart Password

When your high bidder visits your site to pay for his auction he will need this password to add the item to the cart. This can be any alpha-numeric word you like so long as you don’t use characters like (/), (*), (") or (').

Email Winner button

Click here after all the fields in this dialog are filled in and an email pops up with everything you need to tell your winner. This email is created with the data entered for your item, the information typed in this dialog and information from your store wizard. In most cases you will not need to change a thing. If want to make some modifications, just change the text file template in the common folder under your templates folder.
