Product Options Manager
Working with product sizes, colors, etc...

Product options include such things as colors, sizes, styles, scents, optional accessories, etc. The Product Options dialog consists of three parts.

Options: This section of the Product Options Manager contains all of the Product Options that you have defined for use with your products. You may Add, Edit or Delete product options in this section of the Product Options Manager.
Choices: This section of the Product Options Manager displays all of the choices defined for the current Product Option selected in the Options section above. You may Add, Edit or Remove individual choices to each Product Option defined. You may also specify any price or weight adjustments in this section of the Product Options Manager.
Preview: This section of the Product Options Manager simply shows a preview of what the product option will look like on the finished product page.

To fully explain the Product Options manager we’ll use the example of a T-Shirt store.

Let’s say you sell T-Shirts. Your cost on Small, Medium and Large T-Shirts is the same. XL, XXL and XXXL T-Shirts cost you more money. RealCart™ V2 allows these sizes (and any necessary price adjustments) to be defined as a “Pulldown Menu” option on your product pages.

To get started with product options click the New button to define a new product option.

You will be prompted to enter the name for the new product option. For example sake we’ll call your new product option “Sizes for T-Shirts”. Second you are asked for the “label” that will appear next to the product option. To keep things neat and tidy type in a one word label like “Size:” (or “Color” for colors, etc.)

Next you will want to define some choices for this new product option.

In the “Name” field type “Small” and then click the add button.
Next enter “Medium” in the Name field and hit Enter or click Add.
Next enter “Large” in the Name field and hit Enter or click Add.
Next enter “XL” in the Name field and enter “$2.00” in the price adjustment field. Hit Enter or click Add.
Next enter “XXL” in the Name field and enter “$3.00” in the price adjustment field. Hit Enter or click Add.
Next enter “XXXL” in the Name field and enter “$4.00” in the price adjustment field. Hit Enter or click Add.

After defining these sizes your product options dialog will look like this. If you are satisfied with your choices click the OK button to close the Product Options dialog box.

Options section

You can add a new product option, edit an existing product option or delete an option.

Add a product option by clicking the Add button. You will be asked for an Option “Name” and a “label” that will appear next to the option on the product page your customer will see.
Edit a product option by selecting the option you want to edit in the “Pulldown Menu” and then clicking the Edit button. You will be able to change the Option “Name” and “label” that will appear next to the option on the product page your customer will see.
Delete a product option by selecting the option you want to edit in the “Pulldown Menu” and then clicking the Delete button.

Choices section

This is the area where you can add a new product choice to a set of options. Optionally you can define a price adjustment (to raise or lower the base price of a product) along with the product choice you are adding.

Add a product choice by typing the name of the choice (and price adjustment, if any) then hit Enter or click the Add button.
Edit a product choice by selecting the option you want to edit in the list and then clicking the Edit button. You will be able to change the name of the choice as well as the price adjustment (if any.)
Note: If you do not wish to charge a different amount based on the choice selected leave the price adjustment field set to “0.00”
Delete a product choice by selecting the option you want to delete in the list and then clicking the Delete button.

Preview section

In this section you will see a representation of what your customer will see on your product page. Keep in mind as you work with choices that keeping the “label” for your product options short as well as the names of the choices themselves.

Many product theme templates will contain any product choices defined on around half of the screen. Customers to your store that have their screen resolution set to 640 x 480 may end up with a horizontal scroll bar on your product page if these choice names or labels are too wide. Always check your site for low screen resolution compatibility by re-sizing your browser window to 640 x 480 and previewing your product pages.

When you are finished adding Product Options click the OK button. You will be asked if you want to save any changes you have made. Click “Yes” to save your changes or “No” to abandon your changes.
